Aditya Billa Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Billa said on Saturday that as the use of technology in life and industry is growing, the value of human creativity is increasing.
“We are entering a high-tech and high-touch world. As the application of technology in life and industry is growing, the value of human creativity is increasing. I would argue that the value of human touch and empathy is directly proportional to the growth of technology,” said Birla of Indian Technology. She said while addressing a meeting of the Institute, Bombay.
In the next decade, technologists, industrialists, politicians and citizens will have to grapple with some existential questions, he said.
“For example, the question of drinking water – 3/4th of the earth is water, but we are facing problems of drinking water. Similarly, the question of clean energy sufficiency… We have sunshine in India, but we are short of energy,” he added.
He also pointed out that the biggest challenges facing humanity can only be solved by technology and human ingenuity.
He stressed that the students must work at the intersection of purpose, humans and machines to thrive in this world.
“Now that you’ve graduated, I urge you to think of PPM not as Parts Per Million, but as Purpose, People and Machines,” he added.
