Three decades of maximalist fashion

New Delhi: Known for his grand designs and rich aesthetics, designer JJ Valaya showcased his collection, ‘Alma’ on Day 3 of FDCI India Fashion Week 2022. This collection also marks three decades of JJ fashion. Historical influences have always been a major part of the Valayas design language, whether it’s digging deep into our own culture or taking inspiration from the rest of the world.

For this line, the designer introduced fragments of Spain through his ensembles that mainly consisted of embroidered lehengas, printed saris and embellished jackets. Flowered hats, lavish jewelry and music complemented the outfits beautifully.

The highlight of this outing was the color play and the great prints and patterns. From casual reds, bold blues and emerald greens to lighter shades of ivory and peach, this collection truly celebrates his larger-than-life design journey.

“Every year my inspirational journeys start somewhere deep in my soul and are fueled by something visual. This is where I begin my search, dwelling on the visual treasures I come across in books or through travels,” said the designer.
