Tifton Middle School students won the Future of Business Leadership Summit

TIFTON, GA (WALB) – Students at Eighth Street Middle School in Tifton were in the business of winning, as well as learning more about business at the national Future Business Leaders of America (FBA) conference.

Fifty-seven students competed in twenty-four different events. Of these students, twenty-two got first, fifteen second, ten third, five fourth and 6 fifth.

The students are under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Laurel Mullen. She says the skills they learn will help them become better workers, better students, better communicators and better team members. Students talk to their teacher, use a hands-on approach and are always helpful during practice.

“Mullen, she’s always there for people and she’s so kind and nice she knows how to roll with it,” students said.

FBLA brings together business and education to assist students in leadership and career development. Students learn confidence building, public speaking, business marketing and some math skills. Those skills are then taken to compete with other students from around Georgia.

Now students are moving to prepare for the state competition in February.
