Tigers Host FAU, Travel to Indiana in Final Non-Conference Games of Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis women’s soccer team will split their time this week as they host future American Athletic Conference opponent Florida Atlantic on Thursday evening before hitting the road for a matchup against Big 12 foe Indiana on Sunday night.

The Tigers (3-3) are coming off a weekend in ACC territory where they struggled against Louisville and #5 Virginia.

“Coming off a tough weekend against ACC teams, one of those being one of the best teams in the country, we have a choice – to look at it negatively or look at it positively. And I’ve chosen to choose the positive side and learn from it,” said head women’s soccer coach Brooks Monaghan.

For the season, Momo Nakao and Anne-Valerie Seto lead the team with three goals each while Jocelyn Alonzo has a team-best three assists.

FAU (2-2-2) is coming off a 1-0 loss to Florida Gulf Coast where fouls were the culprit of Owls defeat. FGCU was able to find the back of the net in the 88′ to pick up their second win of the season.

Goal-scoring for FAU has come from just four different players this season; Bri Austin and Sofia Voldby both have two goals each while Gi Krstec and Mia Sennes have netted one each.

Indiana (1-0-3) have struggled this season, picking up their only win this past weekend when they downed Indiana State 3-0 in Bloomington. All three Hoosier goals came in the second half by way of Paige Webber, Jen Blitchok and Anna Bennett.

Memphis currently leads the all-time matchup series against FAU and Indiana. They have a combined four wins over both programs going into this weekend.

“We’ve got two tough matches this week against quality opponents,” said Monaghan. “It’s very important that we take bits and pieces from this past weekend to get a little better and give ourselves the best chance to succeed.”

Thursday’s match against FAU is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Track & Soccer Complex. Coverage of the match can be found on ESPN+ and on GoTigersGo.com. Sunday’s match at Indiana can be watched on Big Ten Network + with live stats available on GoTigersGo.com.
