Clemson -33 | O/U 54.5
Best bet: Louisiana Tech +33
As expected, the sportsbooks are one-sided, with Clemson a 33.0-point favorite over Louisiana Tech. Clemson has failed to cover its last six games in which it has been favored by 30 or more.
Clemson’s inability to cover broadcasts in recent games is largely due to the Tigers’ subpar quarterback play. The Tigers undoubtedly had to put the proverbial hose on the Paladins last week as fans began to see some improvement from DJ Yougalley this season — again failing to cover a spread favored by 30-plus points against Furman.
The Bulldogs are definitely not going to win this game. They have the ability to hang around – covering the spread will make it a tough challenge for Clemson.
After the Week 2 win over Stephen F. Austin State University, Louisiana Tech quarterback Parker McNeil had a quarterback rating of 154.1. He was 11 for 23 with 197 passing yards and three passing touchdowns. Bulldogs running back, Marquis Crosby, has carried the ball 16 times for 197 rushes, with two touchdowns this year.
It’s hard to bet against history – I’m taking Louisiana Tech at +33.
Clemson’s inability to cover broadcasts in recent games is largely due to the Tigers’ subpar quarterback play.
Best bet: Under 53 points
While Clemson may have some missing players on defense this Saturday, the Bulldogs have the ability to move the ball against Missouri and Stephen F. Austin, but their defense should provide enough of a challenge for Louisiana Tech.
The main threat to take over is the aforementioned Tigers offensive game. The group moves as DJ Ugalelei does. He’s a big threat right now as he’s still trying to bounce back from some very poor play in the 2021-2022 season.
Quarterback play aside, historically, Clemson has a tendency to underachieve against opponents. In Clemson’s previous two games, both games ended with a lead.
I predict Clemson will beat Louisiana Tech 38-13, with the game ending at 51 points.
