Utah Tech running back Quali Conley earns WAC Player of the Week honors – St. George News

ST. george – Utah Tech sophomore running back Kwali Conley was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Trailblazers’ 56-10 win over Chadron State last Saturday night at Greater Zion Stadium.

Conley (6-0, 210; Fresno, Calif./Central HS) had his best outdoor season in his two-plus seasons as a Trailblazer, rushing for a career-high 139 yards and three touchdowns.

Conley got UT on the board with a 10-yard scamper five minutes into the game, followed by a 1-yard scoring run in the second half. The sophomore carried the ball a season-high 21 times en route to his first collegiate 100-yard rushing game, while his three touchdowns tied him for sixth on the Trailblazers’ career rushing TD list (9 TDs).

Additionally, his 139 rushing yards moved him to ninth on the program’s career rushing list (850 yards). Conley and the Trailblazers will go out for two-straight in-state road games, starting with a showdown at Weber State in Ogden on Saturday night.

Utah Tech is 1-1 to start the season, while Weber State is 2-0 with wins over Western Oregon and Utah State by a combined score of 76-12.

Kickoff at Stewart Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
