Virginia Tech students help relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – Virginia Tech students are reflecting on the time they spent helping relief efforts in Kentucky.

The students spent September 4 cleaning mud from the house, cooking and preparing supplies.

Luke Schauber, a senior at Virginia Tech, says it was important to lend a helping hand to those in need.

“We’re all in this together,” he said. “Every little bit helps. If we’re in that position, we know we need that help. It’s all of you. We’re all in this together.”

“We were there to support the organizing efforts that were happening there and to help the community through the rebuilding process,” Virginia Tech senior Hannah Jane Upson said.

The group of students are part of Virginia Tech’s “Community Health” department.
