What is tech? iPad vs Laptop | What is tech?

There are several reasons why you might choose an iPad over a laptop. It’s lighter, thinner, has a touchscreen, and can use apps. But can it really replace a laptop? For some, yes, but you need some extras.

A keyboard makes iPad so much more than just using a computer. Apple Magic Keyboards range from 160-300. Bridge makes Bluetooth keyboards compatible with all iPads with backlit keys and a battery that lasts for days.

A bridge keyboard with trackpad is $160-$190.

The new iPad operating system works like a computer with a mouse. You can also have more than one program or app on the screen at the same time.

However, unlike laptops, there are no USB ports on iPads, just a USB C charging port. There is a way around this. Anker makes a hub that plugs into a charging port and adds slots for standard USB, SD cards, and HDMI.

You’re not saving money by choosing an iPad. The price of the new iPad Pro is 800-1100. Add a keyboard and it’s at least another $150 so you’re looking at under $1,000 or so. Last year’s MacBook Air cost $900, and now Apple is offering an additional $150 gift card on MacBook purchases.

So it’s pretty even price-wise, but if you’re looking to replace a larger PC laptop, the iPad will be easier to carry and use, but will cost more than a basic PC laptop.
