$20,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a Prince George’s County batting cage business

A Prince George’s County business owner has a trailer containing $20,000 worth of baseball equipment stolen from his batting business.

Andre Hockaday is renovating one of his two business locations on Deck.

The trailer was parked in a lot next to the building in the 9000 block of Edgeworth Drive in Capitol Heights.

Hockaday tells Fox 5 he usually keeps a security pin in the trailer, but he didn’t last Friday night, and the trailer was stolen an hour after he left the building last Friday night.

Turf, pitching machines, nets, baseballs, baseball bats and helmets were among the equipment inside.

“I’ll start over, I guess,” Hockaday said.

The theft was caught on surveillance cameras.

This shows a dark colored Dodge pickup truck pulling up next to a trailer, grab it around and drive off with the trailer attached to the truck.

He posted the video on the social network in search of help, very few people know that the trailer has tools in it.

“I was just waiting to see if anyone else knew. But I don’t know who, and nobody knows yet,” Hockaday said.

Hockaday eventually called Prince George’s County police, who took a report and are investigating.

In the meantime, Hockaday is asking anyone who recognizes the man or the truck from the surveillance video to come forward as they try to figure out what happened next.

Hockaday said insurance wouldn’t cover the loss because the car and equipment were technically parked on Battu’s property.
