A major Saudi fashion exhibition opened in New York City

100 fashion designers from Saudi Arabia have just unveiled their best creations in America’s fashion capital, New York City for a two-week exhibition. This showcase comes as part of the Saudi 100 Brands project, which has invited 100 fashion and accessory designers from across the kingdom to participate. Designers are participating by designing a piece of clothing or an accessory that best reflects the culture, heritage and identity of Saudi Arabia in accordance with the Saudi Fashion Commission.

The 100 selected artists and designers who are traveling to New York to showcase their creativity have been selected from around 1,500 applicants.

The two-week exhibition is divided into eight distinct categories: ready-to-wear, conceptual, modest, bridal, demi-couture, handbags and jewelry. This showcase of local Saudi talent is also part of a 12-month program aimed at mentoring Saudi designers and providing them with guidance and skills that help them achieve exposure for their brands.

During these 12 months, the selected designers will receive advice and learn about the experiences of internationally recognized names in the fashion industry. The program will also include mentoring and individual workshops on relevant topics such as marketing, sales strategy, design and innovation.

Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission and former Dean of Fashion at Parsons School of Design – The New School, said in a statement, “This is the first international exhibition to showcase the diverse creative talent from the Kingdom and their extraordinary designs rooted in Saudi heritage and culture. We have chosen New York as the first destination because New York City has always been a hub of creativity that celebrates all the different cultures around the world.”

The exhibition will last from 26th July – 7th August in the Flatiron neighborhood of New York. It is free to the public and open Monday to Wednesday from 11:00 to 19:00, Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 to 20:00 and Sunday from 12:00 to 6 p.m. at Iron23, located at 29 W 23rdst St.
