India’s top executives from Apple, Google, Amazon, Netflix and Microsoft will appear before a parliamentary panel on anti-competitive practices in the digital space on Tuesday, committee chairman Jayant Sinha said.
The Parliament’s Standing Committee on Financial Affairs has been looking at various areas of competition in the market, especially in the areas of technology.
According to an announcement made by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the agenda of the meeting is the oral evidence of the representatives of the big technology companies on the “anti-competitive activities of the big technology companies”.
“Representatives of Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Netflix from their Indian arm and a few others will appear before the parliamentary panel on the issue of competition in the digital market,” said Sinha. PTI on Sunday.

The BJP leader and former Union Minister said the committee has already held discussions on the matter with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Indian technology companies.
Representatives from food delivery platforms Swiggy and Zomato, ecommerce player Flipkart, cab aggregator Ola, hotel aggregator Oyo and All India Gaming Association are among those named by the panel headed by Sinha.
Lately, there have been complaints about anti-competitive practices by various tech platforms and companies.
Following complaints of unfair trade practices, the CCI is probing various cases, particularly in the digital space.
On April 28, CCI presented to the parliamentary panel about the aspects of competition in the market place.
