Crary Art Gallery is celebrating Women’s Small Business Month with exhibitions and workshops.

The gallery exhibits are open Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

The gallery is also celebrating by teaming up with the Warren County Chamber of Commerce and Industry at its Brews and Business event on Wednesday, October 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. “The event is open to the business community and admission is always free.” Board President Enes Nelson said.

The gallery is partnering with Pearl City Clayhouse to offer a series of Japanese embroidery workshops with instructor Deb Eck through October.

The sashiko entry will be held today, October 6th, the semamori embroidery on Tuesday, October 11th, and the eye embroidery on Thursday, October 13th. The events conclude with a shibori dinner on Tuesday, October 25th, and kumihimo braided bracelets on Thursday, October 27th.

The Holiday Pisankey Workshop with Shandra Wilson will be held at the gallery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Pisanki is a traditional method of decorating eggs using hot candle wax, a wooden stylus (Kystka) and colorful dyes, says Nelson. A member discount is available and all materials are included.

For those not interested in making their own art, the craft hosts an artisan marketplace. “We’ll be filling our galleries with up to 20 artisans selling their wares, along with lots of art from the Warren Art League.” Nelson said. “The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 18, 19 and 20. Artisan registration is currently open at craryartgallery.org.”
