Geothermal energy potential, and AR for luxury jewelry


In late January, a geothermal power startup began testing water from beneath the surface of the northern Nevada desert.

The results — which MIT Technology Review is reporting exclusively — suggest that Houston-based Fervo could create flexible geothermal power plants that can ramp electricity up or down as needed.

Best of all, the system can store power for hours or even days and supply it back for similar periods, effectively acting as a giant, long-lasting battery.

There are remaining questions as to how well this method works on larger scales. But if successful, it would fill a critical gap in today’s grid, making it cheaper and easier to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. Read the full story.

Cartier and Tiffany are getting into AR to sell luxury to Gen Z.

The Cartier and Tiffany AR campaigns are the latest in a series of collaborations with Snap using virtual trial experiences with brands to get Gen Z invested in luxury.
