Jalkiran CHS Hon Sec Dr Padmakar Nandekar felicitates Shri Rahul Narwekar at Golden Jubilee Event

Youngest speaker of Maharashtra legislative Assembly, Hon Rahul Narwekar, was recently felicitated at a special event held to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Jalkiran CHS, Cuffe Parade. 

Shri Narwekar was elected as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly last year. It should be noted that he got 164 votes in support, although he required only 145 votes to win. He serves as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Colaba Assembly seat of Maharashtra. During the election as Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Shri Narwekar was pitted against Rajan Salvi, Maha Vikas Aghadi’s candidate.

He is a renowned figure in the field of politics in Maharashtra. He is a lawyer by profession. He was appointed as an MLA for the first time, during the Assembly elections held in 2019. Shri Narwekar was associated with Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party in the past. He has also served as the  the Shiv Sena Youth Wing’s spokesperson.

He hails from a political family of Maharashtra. His father, Shri Suresh Narwekar, worked as a councillor. In 2014, Rahul Narwekar was in the Shiv Sena. During that time, he was presenting his claim to contest in the Lok Sabha elections. However, he failed to get the ticket. 

He  joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) after Shiv Sena refused him the ticket. The NCP fielded Shri Narwekar from the Maval Lok Sabha constituency. But Shri Narwekar had to face defeat. Later, he joined the BJP and  became Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on July 3, 2022.  

It is noteworthy that at the age of 44, Shri Narwekar, became the second  person to be elected as  the youngest speaker of any state in the country. The first person to be elected for this role was Shivraj Patil chakurkar (at 42 years of age).

Jalkiran CHS, at the Golden Jubilee celebration of which Shri Narwekar was felicitated, stands tall in the prime area of Cuffe Parade. To live in the area of Cuffe Parade is a matter of great pride, as it is a historic and significant business district of the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Cuffe Parade, which is now amongst the most posh areas in Mumbai, was developed after 75,000 sq metres of land offshore west Colaba was reclaimed.

 It has an emerging neighbourhood and boasts of a promising social and physical infrastructure. It is bordered to the north by Nariman Point which, along with Cuffe Parade, forms the greater CBD region of the city. Cuffe Parade is well-connected to other parts of the city by road, which passes through the heart of this beautiful and bustling suburb of Mumbai.

The area is home to a collection of significant commercial and residential high-rises including Jalkiran CHS. This residential building, which exists in the proximity of prominent shopping malls, movie theatres, school, and hospitals, has been proudly standing in the area since the last 50 years. Cosmopolitan people live in Jalkiran CHS. 

It is a nice, quiet, multi-storey building that offers a host of facilities for its residents. These amenities are those that every homebuyer dream of. Jalkiran CHS was built by S Raheja Realty, a reputed real estate developer that was incepted in the year 1965.

The Golden Jubilee celebration event of Jalkiran CHS, where Shri Rahul Narwekar was felicitated, took place on Saturday, 14th January, 2023. Many eminent personalities, including BJP Corporators, Makarand Narwekar, and  Harshita Narvekar, were present at the event.

Hon Secretary of Jalkiran CHS, Dr Padmakar Nandekar, who felicitated Shri Rahul Narwekar at the event, said, “I have  created a vision to make Cuffe Parade as beautiful as Central Park of Manhatta of New York City in the U.S. I am working to achieve the vision since 1999.”

Shri Rahul Narwekar said he will support Dr Nandekar’s vision. He also said he received  approval from Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde of  Rs.500 crore to spend for beautification of South Mumbai. 

 

Shri Rahul Narwekar also said that he will support the mission of Dr Padmakar Nandekar to make Cuffe Parade encroachment free. He added that he is going to do astroturfing of part of Bay View Marina Garden, which is developed by Dr Padmakar Nandekar and others.

Then with Children Films Society India, he was one of the pillars for famous TV show JUNGLE BOOK – The Mowgali Story. He is a pioneer in starting TV Channels like DD Metro, Zee Cinema and many Regional Channels in India.

Dr Padmakar Nandekar is active member of many Social Organizations. He did many new projects in Cuffe Parade where he is very active senior member of Cuffe Parade Resident Association (CPRA). Dr Padmakar Nandekar is Past President and active member of Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City since 2004. He served on various different post in RI Dist.3140. During his Presidential year 2010-11 his Club stood no.1 Club in TRF in District and in Zone 4 & 5 of India. Dr Padmakar Nandekar is recipient of Rotary Foundation District Service Award 2011. Also, he is recipient of Avenue of Service Citation for outstanding effort in each of the avenues of service.

His Club has received highest Rotary award i.e. “Presidential Citation with Distinction” from Rotary International. Also, received 41 District Appreciation award with Gold Medal during his Presidentialship 2010-2011.This is the highest award in Rotary for any of the club in the district. Mr. Nandekar has attended 09 Rotary International Conventions. Dr Padmakar Nandekar and his spouse Parul both are Major Donors and Bequest Society members. Dr Padmakar Nandekar himself including his parents, wife and two children are Paul Harris Fellows.
