Murray announced the cross country schedule

Lubbock, Texas – He will begin the Texas Tech cross country season one month from today as the head coach John Murray He announced the schedule Tuesday afternoon.

Tech opens the first two weeks of the season at West Texas, where the first meet begins in Abilene at the ACU Naimadu Open (Sept. 2). Two weeks later, the Red Raiders will host the TTU Open (Sept. 17) at Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course.

“This year’s schedule will be challenging and rewarding,” Murray said. “When we get to the Notre Dame meet at the end of September, we’ll add a meet we haven’t done in a few years. It’s always fun to get outside of our regular competition area and see new teams.”

For the third regular season matchup, Tech travels to South Bend, Ind., to host Notre Dame at Joe Pian (Sept. 30). TTU concludes the regular season in College Station, running in the prestigious Arturo Barrios Invitational (Oct. 15).

Meanwhile, for the first time since 2016, the Red Raiders will host the Big 12 Championships (Oct. 28) before traveling to nearby Albuquerque, N.M., for the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships (Nov. 11). The NCAA Championships (Nov. 19) take place a week later down the road in Stillwater, Okla.

“The highlight of the schedule will be hosting the Big 12 meet at the end of October,” added Murray. “I think the team will be able to compete at a higher level here in Lubbock. It will be fun for the team and our fans.”
