Jared Plummer, founder of Two Roosters Ice Cream, joins Louis Sheets, vice provost for entrepreneurship, for the first class of Startup Stories, which looks at businesses created by entrepreneurs, including NC State alumni. Plummer was a certified public accountant (CPA) in practice for eight years before discovering his love for ice cream.
“When I studied accounting, I had this language base because I knew how to read a profit and loss statement and what depreciation was,” Plummer said. “Whether it’s ice cream, it provides an amazing base to work with, to be able to take your basic knowledge into business.”
Plummer earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business from Poole College in 2005 and a master’s in accounting in 2007.
