Small businesses are the engine of our economy and the heart of our communities. Today we learned that my first two years in office were two of the biggest years for new small business applications, with more than 10 million new businesses created in total. It is the latest proof that my economic plan is working to build our economy from the grassroots and the middle class.
With unemployment at record lows and the two strongest years of job creation in our history, there are reasons for economic optimism across our nation.
Rebuilding our infrastructure and building our supply chains at home will help our small businesses thrive for decades to come. My legislation will also level the playing field for our small businesses to help crack down on big corporations that cheat on their taxes, which is why it’s so sad to see House Republicans make tax evasion of the wealthy a top legislative priority. .
I will continue to work across party, Congress and states to implement my economic agenda and build our economy from the bottom up and middle class. And I’m sure America’s best days are ahead.
