Tech opens the preseason Aug. 12 on the road for an exhibition matchup against Denver, reviving a traditional rivalry. The countdown officially begins when the Red Raiders host Troy (August 18) under the lights. From there, a three-game road swing begins for Tech, starting with Cal State Fullerton (Aug. 28) as the Titans bounce back from a 10-10 record, going 7-3 in the Big West. Four days later, the Red Raiders travel to Seattle to face Washington (Sept. 1) for the first time in program history and close out a road swing against Saint Mary’s (Sept. 4). The Gaels’ 10 wins last season was their best total since 2011. It is the first time both teams have won.
Houston (Sept. 8) heads to West Texas for an early look at what could be a Big 12 matchup next season. The Cougars posted a 13-5-2 record in 2021, which set a new program record for wins and the most since 2010. Fresno State (September 16).
Big 12 action
Tech will begin a back-to-back league game with the first being WVU before hosting in-state foe Texas three days later. From there, the Red Raiders close out September with a road swing at Oklahoma State (Sept. 29) at Norman vs. Oklahoma (Oct. 2).
Four days later, Tech returns home to host Iowa State (Oct. 6) for a bye week and is back on the road to take on Kansas State (Oct. 13) and Kansas (Oct. 16). Next week, Tech will roll into town to take on defending Big 12 champion TCU (Oct. 27) as they close out the regular season.
The Big 12 tournament returns to Round Rock at the Multipurpose Complex on Sunday, Oct. 30, beginning with the quarterfinals. The semi-finals begin on Thursday, November 3, and conclude with the championship match on Sunday, November 6. The first round of the NCAA Tournament is set to begin on Friday, November 11.
