Tech volleyball head coach Toni Greystone is headed to the West Texas A&M Tournament of Champions.


Lubbock, Texas – Texas Tech head coach Tony Greystone They will be inducted into the West Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Champions this September, the school announced Tuesday.

Greystone, the all-time winningest head coach in Lady Buffs history, spent nine seasons (1999-08) at the helm of the WT volleyball program, compiling a combined record of 315-61.

A five-time Lone Star Coach of the Year selection and four-time AVCA Southwest Region Coach of the Year, Greystone led the Lady Buffs to five NCAA Regional Tournaments, including a run to the 2009 NCAA D-II Finals.

He left Greystone Canyon for Corpus Christi where he served as head coach of the Isles volleyball program from 2009-15. In his final season at Corpus Christi, Greystone led the Islanders to a 31-5 record overall and a perfect 16-0 mark in Southland play.

In the year Greystone, who was named Texas Tech’s head coach in January 2016, has 89 wins in six seasons, including 17 a season ago when he led the Red Raiders to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2001.

Greystone, the fourth-winningest coach in program history, signed a contract extension in March that will keep the coach in Lubbock through 2026.

Texas Tech opens the 2022 season on Aug. 18 when North Texas visits United Supermarkets Arena for an exhibition game. The first service is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

The Red Raiders open the regular season Aug. 26-27 against Notre Dame. Tech will play Notre Dame on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. before taking on Milwaukee on Aug. 27 at 1 p.m.
