Pasadena-based engineering and engineering services firm Tetra Tech IncOn September 1, it announced that it had received a five-year, $100 million contract from the US Environmental Protection Agency to address the human health and ecological risks associated with global climate change.
Under contract from the EPA’s Office of Research and Development, Tetra Tech provides technical assistance services to assess the capacity of ecosystems to respond to various factors such as climate change, urbanization, and habitat loss.
Specifically, Tetra Tech’s scientists and engineers develop forecast models for a variety of climate scenarios, including sea level rise, hurricanes, and drinking water availability. It then analyzes model results and creates interactive, web-based geographic information system displays that allow information to be used and shared for effective decision making.

Previously signed contracts include analysis and modeling for EPA at watersheds, Superfund cleanup sites, and various technical and engineering services.
“We are excited to continue using our ‘science-led’ and Tetra Tech Delta technologies to assess the impacts of global climate change and develop adaptive strategies to strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and human health,” added Batrac.
Shares of Tetra Tech closed at $134.30 on Sept. 1, down 1% after the EPA contract award announcement. In early August, the stock price was mostly down after an earnings report that beat analysts’ expectations.
