New York Fashion Week Spring Summer 2023 is in full swing. As fashion month begins, New York City is stirring up excitement that will set the precedent for the three other cities to follow.
This season there are over 100 brands on the official schedule, including Area, Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford, returning to the coveted calendar. Italian labels like Fendi and Marni jumped across the pond to get in on all the action.
Many brands are celebrating milestones, including Proenza Schouler which kicked off the week with its 20th anniversary, Fendi celebrated the 25th anniversary of the iconic Baguette bag and Puma’s 75th anniversary.

Tommy Hilfiger
Despite the heavy rain that falls The Tommy Factory Fall ’22 runway show, the American designer paid homage to the iconic factory of the great American artist Andy Warhol in NYC, where he brought together fashion, art, music and entertainment.
“From our new TH Monogram designed in partnership with Fergus Purcell to our boundary-breaking collaboration with British designer Richard Quinn, this fall we’re colliding the classic with the new to illuminate what’s next. Mixing traditional Americana codes with a contemporary, streetwear-inspired twist. Clash of bold pop colors, reimagining proportions and repurposing heritage classics in unexpected ways,” says Hilfiger in his show notes. “This is a modern preparation for everyone. A comprehensive celebration of pop culture and creativity, in all worlds from IRL to URL – this is Tommy Factory.”

Marni Creative Director Francesco Risso lit up the cobblestone streets of DUMBO, presenting a collection inspired by celestial movements. Sun imagery was prominent throughout the collection as models took to the runway. “Sunset is not a phenomenon of the sun – happening on the horizon,” the show notes say, “but a phenomenon of the body – setting the sky on fire.”
Altuzarra
Joseph Altuzarra knows dressing very well. Tailored blazers with precise cuts and broad shoulders stood out in the collection with cut-out silhouettes at the waist and adjustable drawcords. “We wanted to create different characters this season and decided on a range of hair looks, from curly, organic mohawks to natural waves and textured bobs, that would speak to this collection and celebration of individuality,” said the designer in his show. notes.
Fendi
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Fendi Baguette, the house left its headquarters in Milan for New York City to host their SS23 Resort show. Creative director Kim Jones debuted a collaboration with his longtime friend Marc Jacobs. The standout bag married the iconic Baguette shape with Jacobs’ viral “Tote Bag” typography.
Hill Road
Fans first became obsessed with Hillary Taymour’s designs during the pandemic, when her hoodies, oversized tops and joggers added a stylish touch to work-from-home outfits. This season, the sustainability-focused brand introduced more beautiful options from dyed silk corsets and strong dresses.
Proenza Schouler
Directors and co-creator founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez marry the sensual and fiery qualities of Lazaro’s Latin roots with the pragmatism and substance of Jack’s American experience to create a rich and vibrant narrative. The collection evokes a series of sensual, tactile textures, including stretchy tweed, shiny techno leather, flowing lace and metallic crochet.
