The storm destroyed the Strathmore agricultural business

STRATHMORE, Calif. (KFSN) — Flooding has hit a South Valley business owner hard, damaging all of his equipment.

Ubaldo Sanchez was on the verge of tears as he shared how this latest storm has affected his family business at Strathmore Ag Supply.

“This was our safe place, we have our stuff here that we want to keep safe,” Sanchez said.

His family has owned this land for over 40 years and worked on this property for over 20 years.

Sanchez said water never arrived at the facility.

He says the loss is financially severe.

“All this equipment, all these supplies we have right now, it’s a million dollars and a loss,” Sanchez explained.

Sanchez said the family business serves and employs more than 800 people.

Now, it’s all hands on deck as the family tries to find what they can.

With more storms approaching this weekend, Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol will have crews working around the clock to make sure people stay safe on the roads.

California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Salas said people should stay home, but if you must drive, be careful.

“Slow down if you can, put that seat belt on, put those distractions away,” Salas said.

Sanchez and his brother are assessing the damage and cleaning up their business.

The brothers are trying to salvage whatever they can to keep the business going.

They say it will take months to get everything back.
