Virginia Tech football’s 2022 campaign has only just begun, but it hasn’t taken long for some key Hokies members to make an impact.

Running back Keshawn King and linebacker Dax Holyfield Last night, September 2nd at Old Dominion put together an impressive showing in Tech’s season opener.

King finished with 111 rushing yards on 19 carries at Norfolk to go along with a 6-yard touchdown reception. It was his second career 100-yard rush on the ground since Trey Edmunds had 132 rushing yards against Alabama on Aug. 31, 2013, and the most rushing yards by a Tech player in a season opener.

On the other side of the ball, Holyfield has been one of the leaders of Tech’s defense and has done a little bit of everything. He finished with 11 tackles, including 1.5 TFL, to go along with two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery, showing his versatility as one of the best linebackers in the ACC.
