What are chemical pollutants doing to our bodies? After a toxic leak from a chemical plant spilled into a tributary of the Delaware River, the source of drinking water for 14 million people, people in Philadelphia approved bottled water from grocery stores last week. And a train carrying other hazardous materials released an unknown number of toxic chemicals in East Palestine, Ohio, last month.
There is no doubt that we are polluting the planet. To understand how these pollutants affect our bodies, we need to know how we are exposed to them. What chemicals do we breathe, eat and digest? And how much is it? The field of exposomics, which seeks to study exposure to other substances, may provide the answers we so desperately need. Read the full story.
