But at least on the announcement front, a new Twitter update could indicate a smooth ride ahead.

Twitter has updated its advertising rules — including those selling products containing THC and CBD, in addition to related accessories — to advertise on the platform under strict guidelines in states where those products are legal. Twitter is the first major social media company to allow these companies to advertise.

Twitter’s advertising business has suffered since Elon Musk took over last year. So it’s no surprise that the company is trying to expand its revenue streams. Several cannabis companies told TechCrunch that this could be huge for an industry that until now has been shut out of major advertising sites.
