The first products from Zara’s Renewcell collaboration are now available on the brand’s Inditex e-commerce site.
The clothes in the Zara x Circulose capsule collection, launched on August 4, are made with Circulose, the brand’s material made from 100 percent recycled textiles. Styles include long dresses with cut-out details, as well as open-knit sweaters and a tie-dye ensemble, all in a natural, undyed color.
Circulose, developed by Renewcell, is a biodegradable raw material used to produce textile fibers such as viscose and lyocell for the fashion market. Yarns produced with Circulose help brands limit the use of virgin textile fibers, reducing the climate and environmental impact caused by the production of raw materials and waste.

Zara’s website includes a page about Renewcell that educates consumers about how the fiber technology works. In a video on the website, German Garcia Ibañez, head of product and sustainable supply chain for Inditex, says that Circulose “proves that circularity in this industry is possible”, adding that clothing made from fibers does not show ” no change” compared to those produced. from traditional virgin inputs.

The new plant is expected to recycle 60,000 tonnes of material per year. In March, Renewcell signed a letter of intent with Daiwabo Rayon Co., a Japanese cellulose fiber producer, for a long-term commercial cooperation on the production of man-made cellulose fibers. The agreement affirms the intention of the two companies to work together to supply textile fibers produced using Circulose.
In January, Renewcell signed multi-year purchase agreements with three European textile sorters, ensuring an ample supply of waste clothing for its new, larger facility in Ortviken next year. Agreements with Germany’s Soex, Switzerland’s Texaid and Sweden’s Sysav will block thousands of tonnes of textile waste each year to be turned into Circulose.
For Zara, this collaboration is part of parent company Inditex’s Sustainability Innovation Hub, an open innovation platform. The aim is to work together with startups, academic institutions and technology centers to promote and scale initiatives that develop new materials, technologies and processes that reduce the environmental footprint of fashion and help advance towards more sustainable production.
