4,000 in Montgomery for the Air Force Information Tech and Cyberpower Convention.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Convention kicked off Monday in Montgomery. Thousands of people will be in the capital to learn about new technologies that help prevent cyber attacks and advanced persistent threats.

David Stickley, a former convention attendee who is now a vendor, says anything and everything about technology is represented at the convention.

He said he has been following the convention for 10 years and events like this are important.

“It allows our customers to see what they wouldn’t do in their normal battle rhythm,” Stickley explains. “We have an opportunity for industry to come together with the customer and talk about what we can do, we can bring innovation to the many mission areas in the Air Force, so this is a great opportunity to talk about how we can make our Air Force better.”

In addition to learning from the vendors, attendees will hear from several speakers and go through educational training.

Updating with technology every 18 months, these conventions are important to those who attend and to the city.

“This is truly one of the biggest events we’ve had in Montgomery,” said Charisse Stokes, President of Topic IT Solutions. “It has an impact of over $1 million, probably close to $7 million because we’re bringing in 4,000 participants.”
