It only took a few hours for the Pac-12’s slim College Football Playoff hopes to disappear.
A few hours after No. 11 Oregon was sent to forestry by Georgia No. 7, No. 7 Utah falls to unranked Florida Gators in The Swamp.
The Utah Utes found themselves in the red zone trailing 29-26 with less than a minute left when quarterback Cam Rising threw a costly interception. Florida proceeded to punt the ball and stop the clock.
An important win in Billy Napier’s Florida debut and a costly loss for Utah and the Pac-12.
“FLORIDA SEALS WIN OVER NO. 7 UTAH WITH THIS INSIDE END ZONE,” ESPN wrote.
SEC fans are having a field day with this one.
“Georgia destroys middle Oregon Florida beat the supposed best team in the conference, Utah SEC is way better than any other conference and it’s not close,” Matt Jones said.
Utah’s path to the College Football Playoff basically became impossible. Maybe next year, Utes.
