Franklin drives past Shedrick and pulls up to the edge to make the move. Georgia Tech nearly forced a UVA turnover with a full-court press, but Clark somehow managed to maneuver through multiple defenders and drive to the basket for a strong layup. Ja’von Franklin, the only Yellow Jacket to appear in the second half, throws a big dunk. UVA turned it over and Myles Kelly hit a three-pointer in transition. Virginia gets Clark lobs back to Shedrick on the other end, who finishes with a layup at the rim.

No one has ever boxed out the missing Three Ray Dunn from Franklin. Vander Plass’ layup attempt is blocked, but the basket counts as a goalie. Debo Coleman spins it over McNeely and it goes off the glass. UVA forces a turnover and Clark gets a chance to run, using a sweet up-and-down move to score a reverse layup.

Reece Beekman steals the ball and feeds it to Jayden Gardner, who throws down a thunderous dunk in transition, a rare dunk for Gardner. Shedrick is fouled and hits two free throws. Georgia Tech finally got on the board when Javon Franklin Shedrick hit the glass with a pump fake. Franklin completed the game with a three-pointer. Sturdivant threw a long pass under the basket to an open Howard and Howard finished the layup. Gardner stopped a 5-0 Georgia Tech run with a baseline jumper. It’s a tough sequence for Isaac McNeely, who throws a bad pass taken by Javon Franklin, who takes it the other way for a layup and a foul on McKneely.

Shedrick lands another high kick and draws an offensive foul, this time with an elbow to the neck. Franklin misses a three but Shedrick is able to tap the foul and foul off the glass. Shedrick completed the game with a three-pointer. Kehi Clark picks Kyle Sturdivant’s pocket and takes it the other way for an easy layup. Clark dives in and Reyes kicks Beekman for an open three and Beekman calls him. Jayden Gardner sank the mid-range jumper. Clark intercepted Lance Terry’s pass as Gardner hit a hook in the paint and Virginia scored again at the other end. It’s Kavalanche as Virginia is now on a 21-0 run and leads 48-25. Josh Pastner called a timeout.

UVA gets a stop and then Isaac McNeely sends a nice pass to Clark for a corner three. Virginia forced a Georgia Tech turnover to give the ball back to the Knights, who could hold the final kick. Clarke returned the favor to McNeely, feeding the true freshman on the right wing and McNeely drilled another three-pointer just before the end of the first half. UVA finished the half on a 9-0 run and held its largest lead of the game at 36-25 at halftime. The Cavaliers have failed to score more than six three-pointers in their last eight games. UVA had three turnovers in the first half against Georgia Tech.

Virginia 36, Georgia Tech 25 | half an hour
Gardner was called for his second foul and Jalon Moore hit both free throws. Virginia would turn it over for its second possession in a row, however, when Kehi Clark fed a pass at midcourt and fed Armaan Franklin on the right wing for his third three-pointer of the game. It was Virginia’s sixth three-pointer in the first half, a good sign for the Cavaliers, who have struggled from beyond the arc for the past several games. UVA is 6/13 from three today.

The Cavaliers went on offense with just over four minutes to go after their final score, and Georgia Tech was heating up when Myles Kelly drained a three-pointer. UVA uses some good ball movement to produce an open corner three for Reyes Beekman to end Virginia’s scoring drought. Jayden Gardner gets a steal and feeds the ball forward to Kehi Clark, who draws a foul in transition and gets 1/2 from the free throw line. Vander Plass is facing charges for the second time today. Howard scooped up an airball three-point attempt and put it in. Miles Kelly knocked down another three-pointer and Georgia Tech got back within two points. Gardner gets the ball in the paint, uses a nice rip in motion and sinks a short floater to stop the Georgia Tech run.

Ben Vander Plass took the ball away from Devon Smith and took it the other way, drawing a foul on Smith. Vander Plus made 1/2 free throws. Virginia paused and then Isaac McNeely hit a three-pointer from the corner to knock down UVA’s fourth three-pointer of the game. When Myles Kelly stole the ball and took it the other way, Beckman turned the ball over and completed the foul on Shedrick. Kelly finished the game with a three-pointer. Cadin Shedrick picked up his second foul on an offensive rebound and Shedrick was ejected from the game.

After Shadrick scrapes the screen, it’s too late to recover and Rodney Howard breaks free underneath for a layup. Shedrick would share it on the next play, receiving a nice pass from Gardner for an open dunk. Franklin was called for a killing foul and Debo Coleman went to the lane and made a 1/2 free throw. Kei Clarke dribbled a three-pointer down the left wing. Howard goes low again for a close. Reece Beekman gets free around the screen and nobody picks it up, driving to the basket for an uncontested layup. Beekman looks good so far in his move. He sat out the last game against Albany as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Jayden Gardner made a mid-range jumper from his left elbow on the first possession of the game to score. Lance Terry drives to the basket and scores off the glass to get the Yellow Jackets on the board. Cadin Shedrick passed to Arman Franklin on a corner three and Franklin splashed it. Franklin comes up with a steal and starts a fast break for UVA. Clarke eventually brings it back to Franklin, who splashes the transition three-way. Kyle Sturdivant hit an inside fade jumper. Georgia Tech stalled and then Debo Coleman hit a deep three-pointer from the right wing. Clarke sends Bibbs’ pass low to Gardner for an easy layup.
