Metaverse and Web3 to take center stage in the central hall

Every year, tech professionals from around the world travel to Las Vegas to test new technologies and learn about new technological innovations impacting the home, automotive, beauty, health, gaming and more. It’s an overwhelming experience where most of us feel like kids in a candy store.

Earlier this year, it was funny to see how many times exhibitors included the word Metaverse in their booths. This XR professional Twitter thread goes viral after going through the show citing every mention of the word and the results are amazing!

Although everything is tech this year, in 2023, Metaverse and Web3 will have a place of their own. This time in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

In a recent CES Tech Talk podcast, Kinsey Fabrizio, Senior Vice President of Membership and CES Sales for the Consumer Technology Association, shared what to expect at CES 2023. She said there will be a separate episode for the game. Metaverse and Web3 in the central hall. CoinDesk’s Web3 studio will be the most exciting part of the event floor, she said, located in the central hall. The studio will interview influential Web3 voices, as well as cover the latest news and crypto and blockchain news on the show.

Central Hall, for CES newcomers, is what many think of as traditional CES. This is an area of the LVCC where some of the biggest exhibits are popping up. The Coindesk Web3 Studio in the LVCC Central Hall will be the hub of Web3, Metaverse and Blockchain at CES. CoinDesk hosts industry leaders and visionaries as they discuss the most important developments in industries, technology and talent. Among other seasoned professionals, I’ll be there to talk about my new book, which launches in mid-January.

Digital Hollywood is offering a companion track called Digital Hollywood: Hollywood Stream and Metaverse. Tracks’ opening session is titled Web3, XR, the Metaverse and the Entertainment Consumer and is the first session of CES to tackle the topic. I’ll be paneling with colleagues from AMD, Nokia, Microsoft, NPR, Shutterstock, and Brett Leonard, director of the 90s SciFi classic Lawnmower Man. This session will be held on January 4th at 9 am in Arya.

CES 2023 will also include a Metaverse & Gaming track to lead us into the Metaverse with sessions such as Gaming. Fashion and luxury will be part of the conversation on embracing innovation in luxury brands: how the best are leaning in this track to AI, Metaverse and Beyond panel.

There is also a Creative Economy and NFTs Talk track. Some of the sessions in this track include Web3: Fad or The Future? and The Changing Metaverse Landscape: Challenges as Opportunities.

There are also tons of side events, demonstrations, and panels happening in parallel with CES.

While the current state may seem like “metaverse winter” to many, it is, in fact, spring. The development of this new field is just the beginning, with AI and XR taking center stage as we build the future of the Metaverse over the next 10 years. Pause to wonder, what will CES 2033 look like?
