White Orchid Wedding Inc. “WOW” was selected as a finalist for the Torch Award for Best Business Bureau in the ethics category.
The Better Business Bureau Great West +Pacific (BBBGW+P) serves more than 200 million consumers in an eight-state service area. The 2022 BBB Torch Awards for Ethical Finalists list businesses recognized as credible community role models.
White Orchid Weddings Inc. has been creating weddings and events in the Hawaiian Islands for over 30 years.
The company was created by owner Karoli Higashino and has grown over the years to support her team of in-house coordinators, who are more “Ohana than employees.” White Orchid Weddings supports over 350 small businesses across the islands for a variety of products and services.
The company, also known as “WOW,” is the recipient of multiple partnership awards, but as a finalist, Higashino said, “This is a very proud moment for all of us.”
The 2022 BBB Torch Award winners will be announced at a live online ceremony scheduled for October 27, which will also be streamed live on the BBBGW+P YouTube page.
The Torch Awards are BBBGW+P’s most prestigious honor for businesses operating in Alaska, Central Colorado, Hawai’i, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Western Wyoming. Winners are selected based on their organization’s commitment to character, culture, customers and community.
“The Torch Awards provide an opportunity for businesses to be recognized by one of the most recognized symbols of trust in the marketplace,” said Tyler Andrews, president and CEO of BBBGW+P. “This year’s finalists completed a rigorous application process and successfully demonstrated how to build trust with their employees, customers and communities.”
For-profit businesses and 501(c)(6) organizations are eligible to apply for the BBB Torch Awards. Additional criteria are based on the size of the organization and the number of years in operation, and finalists are classified as small, medium or large.
Applications for the Torch Awards require organizations to submit real-world examples of their success in areas that include:
- Solving ethical problems
- Creating a culture of trust
- Demonstrate civic participation in society
- Building better customer relationships
Finalist applications are reviewed by an independent, volunteer jury of business and community leaders who have received Torch Awards in the past.
BBB provides factual advice to more than 5.3 million companies and 11,000 charities, dispute resolution services, consumer alerts and educational information on topics related to marketplace trust.
