Bengaluru-based technology-enabled communication startup School of Meaningful Experiences (SOME) today announced the completion of its third round of angel funding. Through its outreach programs, it helps develop soft/human skills for people of all ages, including young adults, working professionals, and entrepreneurs.
Existing investors Uday Singh, former executive and managing director of SIS India, and Mohan Alexander, an angel investor and finance veteran, led the round. With that, the venture raised a strategic $500,000 in angel funding.
The resources will be used to strengthen outreach programs, expand the team and introduce new communication programs for career professionals, managers, CXOs and entrepreneurs.
Rakesh Gohwani, Founder and CEO of SoME said, “It’s great to see our investors continue to show confidence in SME’s holistic approach to education. Even during the pandemic expansion of online learning, we don’t focus on short-term returns and always embrace the big picture. At SME, we teach not only communication but also life skills that help our students’ personal and professional lives. Now our plan is to go beyond the metros and tap the Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets in India to create future leaders who can communicate and collaborate with trust.
The SME specialized courses are based on the company’s unique ‘Six Cs’ concept, which equips students with important life skills such as communication, confidence, collaboration, curiosity, competence and creativity. The startup develops and delivers transformative communication programs needed to address workplace issues in the post-pandemic professional environment of the twenty-first century.
SME has graduated 2,500 students so far. Partnerships with corporates, colleges and renowned educational institutes such as Ahmedabad University School of Management have enabled SME to reach students of all ages from all parts of the world. Touted as the “future continuous learning platform,” it offers some form of education and communication. In SME, there are no ‘teachers’ or ‘faculty’; Instead, there are ‘guidelines’ that encourage students to be bold in their pursuit of knowledge.
