Kindles have useful features that you will want to take advantage of. Long press to view a word or phrase Translation, highlight Is, or take Notes. You can also search the book for that specific word or phrase or translate it into other languages.
A word of wisdom It shows short translations in small text within the lines. Unfortunately, it’s not available for all books, but when it is, you can turn it on or off and choose more or less hints. Clicking on the short definition will open a page from WordWise and the New Oxford American Dictionary or the Oxford Dictionary of English (you can switch between the two), and a longer one from Wikipedia if desired.
While reading, touch the top of the display and click “Aa” to change Font size or typeThere is also a font called OpenDyslexic that helps make reading easier for people with dyslexia. You can control the margin sizes and line spacing from the menu.
When the Kindle is connected to a Bluetooth speaker or headset, Audio visual screen reader (Accessed via settings > Accessibility) lets you use gestures to navigate your device and read aloud what you’ve installed. Although it doesn’t sound as good as an audiobook does, it does read a book out loud.
Amazon owns it. GoodreadsSo it seamlessly matches Kindles (press Three point menu > Goodreads). If you have a Goodreads account, you can review Kindle books you’ve read or browse your bookshelf and recommendations. Long-pressing a word or phrase, in addition to the above, opens the option to share quotes directly to Goodreads.
