Connecticut has partnered with seven public and private colleges and universities to provide students with the technology skills needed to fill high-quality, well-paying jobs.
It’s called the Connecticut Tech Talent Accelerator, which aims to help schools partner with business groups to train for the tens of thousands of high-skill jobs that are currently unfilled.
“You have to reinvent yourself to survive and thrive,” Lamont said. And that’s what this program is about. And that’s what P-Tech is, that’s what this initiative is all about.”
The students can acquire the digital technology skills required in the new business environment.
“We’ve taken a lot of our legacy industries, the old banking industry, and it’s going to be fintech. And that’s going to be digital media. And that’s going to require the coding skills that we’ve got in this kind of program.”
The partnership includes short-term certificate programs that provide students with high-demand technology skills such as cybersecurity, virtual modeling, software development and digital analytics.
The courses are offered at Quinnipiac University, University of Bridgeport, Mitchell College, University of Hartford, University of New Haven, Saint Joseph’s University, and Connecticut State Colleges and Universities.
