Emrata has entered the chat. Today she’s here to talk all things fashion, motherhood, self-care and yes, some of her favorite reads too, in honor of the release of her best-selling book My Body. (We’re obsessed.) It’s out now—so grab your copy and keep scrolling for her picks.

Three things that are always in my bag…

Aquaphor to keep lips hydrated, a set of headphones [HQ loves these]and a very large compact mirror to see what I look like.

The baby item I couldn’t live without as a new parent…

The Doona stroller, which easily converts from a car seat to a regular stroller. It’s the only way I can easily imagine getting around New York City with a new baby.

The best hack to remove makeup after a day on set…

Bioderma [micellar water] — is the world’s best makeup remover. It removes everything and doesn’t irritate your skin at all.

My comfortable shoe…

Any sneaker. I’m wearing a lot of New Balances right now.

What I read while writing “My Body” and what I’m reading now…

I read a lot of things while writing. I specifically read a lot of essay reviews. I read Alexander Chee, Lacy M. Johnson, Jia Tolentino, and Leslie Jamison. And “The Right to Sex” by Amia Srinivasan. Right now, I’m reading this book called The Collaborator by Winnie M Li.

Favorite thing in my closet that is surprisingly affordable…

I honestly only love one pair of Zara cowboy boots at the moment. I wear them all the time.

Favorite piece of advice (given or received)…

I think trusting your gut is generally the best advice I’ve gotten and received. It’s something I constantly have to remind myself of, even though I know how crucial it is. It’s easy to lose yourself and your instincts.
