You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Bollywood brought to you by The Indian Express.
“Let’s begin with news on actor Hrithik Roshan, who is coming back on the big screen after three years with Vikram Vedha alongside Saif Ali Khan, which releases today.

On the eve of the movie’s release, Hrithik’s cousin sister Pashmina Roshan shared a note on social media.

She wrote, “This is the Duggu I know, who nurtures everything with so much love, care and consideration that it becomes engraved in every atom of his surrounding. I can see it all in every expression on Vedha’s face. The actor in me finds this empowering. The little sister in me walked out of the theatre feeling PROUD. To the team of Vikram Vedha: Take a bow. What an incredible film.”””
“Before Vikram Vedha, in which Hrithik features alongside superstar Saif Ali Khan, he had shared screen space with other actors in films such as Mission Kashmir, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Dhoom 2, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and War.

The War actor said, “I love doing an ensemble. The more the merrier. Like I did in ‘ZNMD’, ‘War’ and now with Saif, it pushes you to do better because you see wonderful acting. Every time, I have done a two-hero or an ensemble film it has been way better and more fun for me,”

Directed by Pushkar and Gayatri, Vikram Vedha is a remake of the Tamil film of the same name, starring R Madhavan, and Vijay Sethupathi.”
“Meanwhile,

Directors and producers may not always see eye to eye when it comes to making certain creative choices in a film. And in the case of Brahmastra, something similar happened a couple of times between filmmaker Ayan Mukerji and Karan Johar, who has bankrolled the fantasy drama.

Johar, appearing at FICCI recently revealed that he had made Ayan reshoot parts of the film. He said, “Kesariya was shot with Ranbir dancing quite feverishly. When we saw the song, I said ‘What the hell is going on? What is wrong with you Ayan?’. Why were they dancing? Kesariya was shot differently. Same tune and melody but treated differently. It is then that Ayan realised it had to be treated differently,””
“Actor Mouni Roy, who grew to prominence due to her stint on Indian television, was recently seen playing the lead antagonist in Ayan Mukerji’s passion project Brahmastra. Mouni was nervous about sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan, who had an extended cameo in the movie.

During an interview with IndiaToday, the Gold actor said, “I went on set and the first line I had to utter during the rehearsal take with him, I fumbled. I was so nervous. I knew that opportunities like this do not knock on your door every single day. So, I had to give it my all and I had to give him my 100%.”

Brahmastra also starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan.”
“In other news,

Arshad Warsi and Pratik Gandhi have been roped in to play lead roles in filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s next movie Yash, the makers announced on Thursday. The cop-dacoit thriller film is inspired by the life of a selfless and dynamic young IPS officer from Uttar Pradesh, who puts his life on the line to serve valiantly.

Yash is backed by Golden Ratio Films and Yaelstar Films, who have previously collaborated on Abhay Deol-led miniseries JL50 and the Marathi film Chandramukhi, starring Amruta Khanvilkar.

Produced by Piyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Ashwini Chaudhary and Miten Shah, the film marks the first on-screen collaboration of Arshad Warsi and Scam 1992 star Pratik Gandhi.

The movie will be filmed in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.”
“Mahesh Bhatt was one of the most popular directors in the 1980s and 1990s. And it was in this phase that he worked with Shah Rukh Khan, who was enjoying his newfound stardom. But despite their successful track record, both the films they made together failed miserably. In a recent interview, Mahesh recalled that despite his “dismissal performance”, SRK always stood by him.

He said, “I am the only man who has made two bad films with Shah Rukh Khan. Though he was coming into his own and I love Shah Rukh, amazing guy. But despite my dismissal performance, he treated me like a king and it takes a king to treat another person like a king. I’ll always be grateful to him,” “
“Lastly,

Bollywood star Ajay Devgn has released the first teaser of his highly anticipated thriller Drishyam 2. The film also stars Shriya Saran and Tabu in pivotal roles. The short video offers a glimpse of what one can expect from part two of the franchise. A big chunk of the clip sees the makers recapping for the audience what happened in the first film, including the murder and the efforts taken by Ajay’s character Vijay Salgaonkar to protect his family.

Drishyam, which was released in 2015, was a box office success and received some good reviews for the actors’ performances in the film.

Drishyam 2 is also the sequel to the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name, starring Mohanlal. “
