You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Bollywood brought to you by The Indian Express.
“Let us begin this bulletin with news from Netflix, unveiling the first trailer for director Ali Abbas Zafar’s upcoming drama film Jogi, set during the Delhi riots of 1984 and starring Diljit Dosanjh in the title role.

The trailer opens with Jogi enjoying breakfast with his family, seemingly during the calm before the storm. But as gunshots ring through their neighbourhood, which is soon invaded by violent mobs, the protagonist attempts to flee the city with his family and travel to Punjab, which is the safest place they can be in.

The trailer suggests that the exodus was ‘the biggest human heist’ ever witnessed. The trailer also projects Jogi as a saviour figure of sorts.”
“Arjun Rampal has joined the cast for Sonakshi Sinha’s upcoming film, Nikita Roy And The Book Of Darkness. The thriller, which went on floors in London, is directed by Sonakshi’s brother Kush Sinha. It also stars Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar.

Talking about joining the cast, Arjun said in a statement, “It was a real pleasure to do a cameo in this film, as it reunited me with Paresh Rawal, who I adore, Nicky-Vicky who I have seen as kids and now as producers. Also, I am so delighted to see Kush at work doing so well and Sonakshi in a totally different avatar.”””
“Moving on,

Television actor and Punjabi movie star Sargun Mehta, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar‘s Disney Plus Hotstar thriller Cuttputlli, recently shared that Khiladi Kumar is very easy to work with.

She said, “Once you’re on set, it doesn’t feel like oh my God it’s Akshay Kumar, he just makes you feel like any other co-actor. He is appreciative, he knows what to say and not to intimidate the other person and he gives you a free hand at improvising or doing as many takes as you want to.”””
“In other news,

The song “Zooby Zooby” from Dhokha Round D Corner, starring R Madhavan, Khushalii Kumar, Darshan Kumar and Aparshakti Khurana, is out, and it is just another needless remix of an 80s classic that no one needed.

From the looks of it, Dhokha is an action-thriller, which doesn’t explain why there is a revamped version of an old song in it. The number has not even been presented as a situational song, wherein cops or goons take care of business in a club where the lady happens to be performing.

Sung by Zahrah S Khan and Yash Narvekar, “Zooby Zooby” has been recreated for the film by Tanishk Bagchi with lyrics by Kumaar.”
“The Arjun Kapoor and John Abraham starrer Ek Villain Returns is all set for a digital release. After its unsuccessful run at the box office, the Mohit Suri directorial will drop on Netflix on September 9.
A sequel to the 2014 film Ek Villain, the Ekta Kapoor-backed romantic thriller Ek Villain Returns also starred Disha Patani and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles.

Ek Villain Returns was released on July 29 to poor reviews and earned a total of Rs 41.69 crore after running in cinemas for three weeks.”
“Meanwhile, the gripping teaser of Vikram Vedha, starring Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, has crossed over 30 million views across platforms. The film sees Vikram hunting down a dread gangster Vedha in what seems to be a cat-and-mouse chase. After the film’s teaser received an overwhelming response, the cast and crew reacted to the love and praise.

Speaking about the teaser, Hrithik said, “The teaser was a little glimpse of the world of Vikram Vedha, and the response that it has garnered is heartwarming. Vikram Vedha’s teaser stands to be the most liked Hindi film teaser, and the number of viewers it has reached across social media platforms is hugely rewarding for me as an artist.”””
“Saif Ali Khan’s journey to films, before he found a footing as an actor, was riddled with projects falling apart, uncertainty and–what affected him the most–damaging rumours about his professional behaviour.

Saif, who made his screen debut in 1993 had lost out on two other films before these, one of which he was “thrown out” of due to rumours of showing up on sets, drunk.

Long ago, Saif opened up about the bad press he had received and said,
“I feel people think that I am not interested in films, Rumours started going around on, that I came to the sets drunk, that I kept sleeping on the sets. All this is old now but I was quite affected,””
“Lastly,
All eyes are set on Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, as the film nears its release date. Ayan took to Instagram and shared a short clip, featuring Ranbir.

Sharing the video, the director wrote, “Can’t believe we only have 10 days to go before Brahmāstra releases. Very emotional, nervous, exciting, non-stop work days as we prepare to let Brahmāstra go out fully into this World!”” ”
