Fashion East announces the LFW SS23 line

Emerging designer incubator Fashion East has just announced its line-up for the Spring Summer 2023 show, including Jawara Alleyne, Karoline Vitto and Michael Stewart’s label Standing Ground. Each designer will present a show on schedule during London Fashion Week, supported by longtime Fashion East partner Nike.

This season, The Mills Fabrica will host the Fashion East showcases in the heart of King’s Cross. Joining an existing community of innovators and conscious entrepreneurs, the new destination marks a shift in attitudes for LFW visitors, moving towards a more considered approach to consumption.

First up is Jamaican-Caymanian Jawara Alleyne, who will present his fourth and final collection with Fashion East this SS23 season. Continuing his ethos of sustainable creative practices, Alleyne’s work seeks to challenge the traditional lens of masculinity, “celebrating sensuality and deconstructing cultural mythology,” according to the press release. So far, Alleyne’s designs have been worn by Rihanna, Bella Hadid and Kendrick Lamar.

Next up is Brazilian-born, London-based designer Karoline Vitto, who used unspoiled fabrics from LVMH’s Nona Source showroom for her debut collection with Fashion East. Vitto’s work aims to display a unique perspective on gender ideals, highlighting the hidden aspects of the female form in an effort to celebrate and uplift. Vitto’s clothes have previously been worn by the likes of Paloma Elsesser, Precious Lee and Shygirl.

Completing the Fashion East line is Irish designer Michael Stewart, whose label Standing Ground prioritizes craftsmanship above all else, bringing together the worlds of past and future. Known for her contemporary evening wear, bespoke clothing and body jewellery, Standing Ground focuses on proportions and silhouettes, using drapery and sculptural techniques to inform her pieces.

The presentation of Fashion East will take place at London Fashion Week on September 16.
