“I think it’s really beautiful, especially in the creative industry, to see how we overcome those obstacles, and that sometimes, the beauty comes with it,” adds Marco Capaldo of 16Arlington. “I think this season will be a benchmark in the sense that the focus is really on the craft and the artisan and everything that went into building these collections.”
At the end of the day, London Fashion Week is about a business-first mentality that gets the job done, rather than the circus that surrounds it. “It’s a massive part of British culture, the best fashion school in the world is in London,” claims Turkish-British talent Dilara Fındıkoğlu, referring to Central Saint Martins. “If there is no London Fashion Week, there are no new ideas – it has to happen.” Michael Halpern, who met the Queen two years ago during a meet and greet with young designers, adds that the ideas, in turn, mean the industry: “I think Her Majesty would still want designers to be in able to be creative, especially those of my stature. who can’t really afford to miss a fashion show.”
