Origin Bank has made an initial donation to create a new outdoor learning space at Louisiana Tech University’s AE Phillips Laboratory School.

The Outdoor Learning Center provides spaces for students to play and participate in activities designed to enhance their school experience. When completed, the environment will reflect the school’s commitment to all aspects of health and education for its students.

“At AEP, we provide our Bulldogs with a great learning experience and a fun time at school,” said Dr. Jenny Blalock, School Director. “This outdoor learning space gives our students an opportunity to learn and play outdoors and just be kids.”

The project includes new playground equipment, new fencing and updated drainage and irrigation systems.

Origin Bank continues to be a strong champion of Louisiana Tech University, promoting everything from new athletic facilities to the Office of Inclusion Initiatives and the Office of Student Success to the improved outdoor space for AE Phillips students, faculty, staff, and parents.

“The partnership between Origin and Louisiana Tech is extremely important to us and reflects our deep commitment to improving our community,” said Drake Mills, chairman, president and CEO of Origin Bancorp, Inc. It has a positive impact on students and faculty, and helps the university create unparalleled learning experiences for all members of the campus community.

“Startup Bank is a steadfast benefactor of Louisiana Tech University,” said Louisiana Tech President Dr. Les Guise. “Our companies have grown together, and as we grow, we support each other.”

Site preparation for the center has begun, and students can follow the project as it progresses.

“We want this physical space to express our values,” Blalock said. “We value movement through education. We value sunlight for health, and we promote physical activity. We are all excited to see this project begin with the support and commitment from Origin Bank, and our students can’t wait for it to finish.”
