In a typical large organization, DevOps tasks have become very complex, and involve navigating many tools, making it difficult to understand the current situation and add resources when needed. It’s gotten to the point where developers are required to submit tickets even for routine operations, adding unnecessary friction and slowing down the entire process.

The first phase of Israel’s startup port aims to help DevOps engineers gain visibility into the current state of the architecture, deploying new resources when needed, all in one window.

Traditionally, this kind of functionality was only available to large engineering firms like Netflix, Spotify, and Lyft. Today Port announced a $7 million seed investment to go public.

According to Zohar Eni, the company’s founder and CEO, the startup has created something called an “internal development platform” that aims to allow both developers and operations to do more work without having to file tickets. “We’ve built this internal development platform, allowing engineering to be accessed as a single interface. It’s actually highly customizable, and the port provides building blocks to create portals that make more sense to the client and their workflow, like portal building tools of the past, but specifically for DevOps. “We’ve taken a developer-based approach that provides a very simple tool for them to build their own platform. The company launched a year ago, but in concept they have paying customers using the product. With 22 employees already, Aini says diversity is a big priority for the company.

He said that they have been working with non-governmental organizations for this. This is a common practice for hiring people who are not represented in Israel, where the company is located. Ronnie Floman, who handles marketing for Port, said NGOs help the company get access to communities in Israel that startups like Port cannot apply to.
