Sept 11 (Reuters) – In a wake-up call to the status quo, designer Prabal Gurung presented his spring 2023 collection in bold and bright colors on Saturday at the old Japanese consulate in the United Nations Plaza.

Models of all sizes and genders, including US Vice President Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter Ella Emhoff, helped the designer show off his line of soft clothing paired with metallics and liquid-like gloves and leggings.

“It represents everything we want to see in the world,” Gurung said of the location.

He said that his line also gives a voice to the underrepresented.

“You know, Spring 2023 is a celebration of those who are often monitored, scrutinized, watched, but rarely seen. You know, these are the people, the misfits of the world.”

New York Fashion Week will last until September 14.
