Houghton, Mich – The Michigan Tech women’s soccer team prepares for the first weekend of the season by hosting Minnesota Crookston and No. 9 Bemidji State. Minnesota’s game against Crookston is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m., with Bemidji State scheduled for Sunday at noon.
Michigan Tech football, in partnership with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, has announced a four-year media partnership with Flosports beginning this fall. FlowSports became the exclusive platform for the conference and will broadcast more than 900 games across 21 sports at MTU, including football, basketball, soccer and volleyball.

Minnesota Crookston opened its fall campaign Sunday (August 28) with a 2-1 win at Waldorf. Goalie Kathryn Brainerd had two saves in the game, keeping the Golden Eagles in goal the entire contest. Alyssa Pavlasic and Abby Fettinger both scored the winning goals for UMC.
Despite playing just one contest in the first weekend of this season, the Golden Eagles had three exhibition games in the weeks leading up to the fall campaign, which included losses to Lake Iowa CCC (1-1) and Jamestown (2-1). 1) and St. Scholastica College (2-1).
Minnesota’s Crookston was boosted to a 16th-place finish in the NSIC Preseason Soccer Coaches’ Poll.

Bemidji State started off Thursday (Aug. 25) with a 3-0 loss against Summit League affiliate South Dakota State.
Fifth-year senior Sarah Went scored both of Bemidji State’s two goals in the game, while Alyssa Stumbaugh finished with four saves.
The Beavers, ranked No. 9 in the United Football Coaches Preseason Poll in early August, were projected to finish second in the NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Fifth-year defender Megan Dahl was named the NSIC Preseason Defensive Best Player for the second consecutive season. She was named the NSIC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, helping the Beavers to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the NSIC Tournament Championship last season.
About Huskies
Michigan Tech started the season last weekend with a split at Minnesota, falling to UMD 2-1 on Thursday night (Aug. 25) and the winner coming off a 2-0 win at St. Cloud State on Saturday (Aug. 27).
Senior Nev Badalow was the Huskies’ lone scorer in the contest against Minnesota Duluth.
Three newcomers scored their first points for the Black and Gold in their game against St. Cloud State. Taylor Noble got her first assist on Haley Ruiter’s game-winning goal. Shortly after the Huskies’ first goal, Alivia Sanom and Makenna Sanom scored for the first time in their careers, with Makenna assisting on Aliva’s goal minutes later.
Senior goalkeeper Gracie VanLangevelde earned her first shutout of the season, her fifth all-time for MTU.
