Pooler, Ga. (WTOC) – Local businesses rely on community support to make it happen, and to thank the community for all that support, local vendors gathered at Tom Triplett Park Saturday to set up shop and help the United Way.
To set it up in the marketplace, the sellers paid a fee, which went to the United Way. Then they set up shop and did business with the community members.
Businesses like Prewitt Homestead, Baked by Maggie and Big Drop Peanuts were there.
Tony Murphy of Chatham County Parks and Recreation says the idea behind the marketplace was comprehensive community building.
We’re trying to bring back a sense of community by giving people a chance to come out and have fun and socialize. Being able to go to retail stores and malls is anything but here you will find time to relax, enjoy, bring your family. There is open space to play, run, relax, enjoy good food and good company,” said Deputy Director Tony Murphy.
“We love doing these pop-up markets. It’s our main business. We do a lot of business out of our home, but these markets are where we interact the most with the community. It’s where people come and hang out and try products, and we love doing these pop-up markets,” said Brian, owner of Prewitt Homestead. Prewitt said.
In total, there were 18 vendors at the marketplace on Saturday. Some say they would participate again if given the chance.
