SEOUL, September 5, 2010 (FBC) – South Korea issued weather advisories and raised its typhoon warning level on Monday as Typhoon Hinnamnor, which is battering southern parts of the country with rain and strong winds, approaches.
The typhoon, moving northward at 19 kilometers per hour (12 mph), is expected to make landfall about 90 kilometers southwest of the port city of Busan in the early hours of Tuesday.
“Due to the typhoon, very strong winds and heavy rains are expected across the country until Tuesday, with very high breakwaters and areas crossing coastal roads with storm surges and tsunamis,” the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said.

Warnings were issued in southern cities including Gwangju, Busan, Daegu and Ulsan on the southern island of Jeju, while the Central Disaster and Safety Prevention Headquarters updated its emergency response situation for the first time on Sunday. For hurricanes in five years.
The port city and its surrounding areas received rain throughout the weekend, with more rain expected on Monday and Tuesday.
