Tennis heads to Midland for the first tournament of the fall.

LUBBOCK, Texas. – The Texas Tech men’s tennis team will open its season at the Racquet Club Prize Money Invitational on Sept. 9-11, with six players heading to Midland, Texas for the tournament.

Six Red Raiders – Sebastian Abboud, Isaac Arevalo, Dimitrios Azoidis, Frank Rioro, Tyler Stewart And Ole Wallin – All travel to Midland for the first tournament of the season.

Texas Tech is coming off a 14-game winning streak, including wins over LSU, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The team reached the first round of the NCAA Tournament where they faced Auburn in the Wake Forest Regional.

A total of eight players will be returning for the 2021 season, ranked 41st on the team. Arevalo, who played at No. 1 singles last year, finished 2021 ranked No. 77 in singles by the ITA. Arevalo finds himself at No. 51 in the ITA Preseason Rankings.

At the Racquet Club Prize Money Invitational, the Red Raiders will face off against some of the top collegiate talent in the nation. All doubles matches start at 5pm on Friday September 9, with three singles matches starting at 9am (Arevalo, Stewart, Wallin) and three at 10:30am (Abboud, Azoides, Ribeiro) on the same morning.
