This is where the titular creatures come in Minions: The Rise of Gru, as they are determined to help their “Mini Boss” champion his cause even as he ignores their initial attempts to save his skin. The story splits its time between the Minions and Gru himself, serving as a perfect bridge between the previous film and the original trilogy. Despite pandemic delays that pushed back the film’s release date, it proved the staying power of its lovable yellow leads by raking in over $800 million at the global box office so far.
