As a filmmaker’s tool, it’s a near-perfect descriptor that establishes who the Mario brothers are in minutes. As a setup for the movie itself, it’s hilarious — and a huge advertisement for Nintendo’s mega-franchise.
Most multimedia properties are about exploiting intellectual property for entertainment and profit. It’s highly unlikely.
