Utah Tech went on a second-half explosion past Chadron State.


Salt Lake City – Utah Tech overcame a sluggish first half with 28 unanswered points in a 56-10 victory over Chadron State.

The Trailblazers scored first on their second possession of the night, driving 64 yards in six plays. Quali Conley capped the drive with a 10-yard scoring run to give Utah Tech a 7-0 win.

The Eagles tied it in the second quarter when Jalen Stark ran up the middle for a one-yard touchdown early in the period.

The score remained 7-7 at halftime.

Utah Tech took over in the middle of the game.

Chadron State started the second half and on the third play of the game, Kaijin Smith-Bejgrowicz intercepted Heath Beamiller’s pass and returned it.

On their next possession, the Trailblazers went 80-yards in three minutes. Kobe Tracy hits Malcolm Ross-Turner for a touchdown.

Leading 21-7, Conley added his second rushing TD of the night to blow the game open.

With a three-point lead, the Trailblazers weren’t quite ready to take their foot off the gas.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, Tracy lofted a pass deep down the right sideline and found a wide-open Joey Hobert for a 38-yard score.

Just 26 seconds later, Trailblazer cornerback Tyrell Grayson picked off a Beimler pass and ran into Utah Tech’s end zone for his second six of the night.

Conley added his third rushing touchdown of the night to make it 49-10 following an Eagle field goal.

Tracy finished with 388 passing yards and three touchdowns. Conley’s 139 rushing yards led the Trailblazers while Hobert contributed 161 receiving yards on six catches.

Utah Tech (1-1) will travel to the North to take on the No. 16 Weber State Wildcats (2-0) at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, UT on Saturday, September 17. Kickoff is set for 6 pm (MST).
