Back to the 10 Cat Travel Accessories for RV Lifestyle

The following ten items are your RV Lifestyle must-haves when taking your kitty on the road. All of these cat travel accessories should make your RV trip more enjoyable for you and your cat.

1. Cat Carrier

When traveling with any pet, it is important to keep them secure while on the road. Not only does it keep them safe, but it also keeps you safer. A freaked-out cat jumping onto your lap can be hazardous in more than one way!

Keeping your cat in a carrier can also ensure that your pet is safely stowed once you reach your destination. That way, you can focus on getting your campsite set up without having to worry that your kitty is confined inside or will bolt outside.

2. Portable Cat Tent

Another accessory that is a great fit for your RV lifestyle is a portable cat tent. A cat tent is a mesh-sided enclosure that you can set up on the campsite to contain your kitty while still allowing them to enjoy the outdoors.

When traveling to new places, your cat might wander off and get lost. This tent allows him to still enjoy the outdoors but stay safely near you.

3. Portable Cat Litter Box

There is no way around this one. You need a kitty litter box when traveling with a cat!

This portable litter box zips up for easy traveling in any RV. When you get to your next destination, you can simply unzip it to open it back up. Plus, it’s easier to carry in and out to dump the litter (responsibly) and clean it as needed.

4. Odor Masking Cat Litter

No matter what size your RV is, it is still a relatively small, confined space. That means you want an excellent odor-controlling cat litter to mask any bathroom unpleasantries coming from your furry friend.

It is also great if your cat litter is a low-dust type. This can help keep your RV cleaner and smelling fresh!

5. Cat Harness and Leash

Another great pet accessory to take along on your next road trip is a cat harness and leash. It allows you to walk your kitty outside safely by preventing them from running off.

It may take your cat a little getting used to, but once they do, this might just become your favorite accessory. Some people even take their kitty’s along on short hikes!

6. Spill Proof Food and Water Bowls

Another must-have item when traveling with your cat is a spill-proof food and water bowl. When you leave your RV, you don’t want to worry that your pet has knocked over their food or water.

It will ease your mind to know that your cat has access to food and water all day. That, and knowing spilled water isn’t soaking into your RV floor!

7. Air Tight Food Storage Container

When you are out in nature, there are tons of critters. From bugs to squirrels, there is no shortage of critters that would love to eat your cat’s food.

Keeping the food in an airtight container keeps it fresher for your cat and hides the scent for unwanted critters to track.

8. Automatic Laser Cat Toy

Say you want to go out for the day. Maybe you want to explore a new city or go hiking. What if your cat gets bored?

A great solution to that problem is getting an automatic laser cat toy. It turns on periodically throughout the day to keep your cat entertained for hours.

There are many different types of automatic laser toys out there. I like the hanging one for your RV because it can be mounted from the ceiling. With limited space in an RV, the last thing you want is one more item taking up precious real estate on your floor, table, or counter.

9. Travel Indoor/Outdoor Cat House

Cats like to be inside enclosed spaces. It makes them feel safe and secure. That is why it might be a good idea to get a collapsible cat house.

The one I have included here is multi-level, giving your cat a better view of the surroundings. You can even add a cat tunnel to it, which I think is quite neat.

10. Cat Window Perch and Scratcher Combo

Cats love to look outside. They watch the wildlife and people and love to catch sun rays when they can.

If you have the space for it, your cat would love a window perch and a small scratch post.

Your cat can lounge by the window and scratch if the need should arise.

The good news is that the perch and post don’t take up much room. It attaches directly to the window with suction cups so that it can be kept out of the way.

10 Purrfect Cat Travel Accessories for your RV Lifestyle 3

You are in for a HUGE adventure. While some of our guides are designed to explore an area in 7 days, this one can take an entire summer to see it all. We chose to start in Detroit and travel north up the “Thumb” region, but you can pick and choose any section you want to begin your adventure.

Each Stop in our Guide gives you at least 3 places to camp while exploring the area! The state is particularly well suited for RV adventurers and the Michigan State Park system is one of the nation’s best. But don’t forget the beauty of boondocking. State forests abound, most offering rustic and dispersed off-the-grid camping. We hope you pick this up and enjoy one of our favorite places in the US to RV!
